sabineI went to work this morning. I started working.
Downwood got Emi ready for school and to the bus. He played Lego trains with Alex. He finally called the doctor about the high blood pressure and other chest pain and numbness things he's had going on all weekend.
They told him to get to the hospital. And to not drive.
I scrambled and found backups for all my responsibilities at work. I drove home.
I drove Downwood to the ED. He's been there for about 6-ish hours. No word on when they'll let him leave.
I tooled around Madison for a while with Alex. After a couple stops, when I asked where he wanted to go, he clearly stated, "Home."
We're at home. Emi's home from school. I'm trying to arrange a ride for Downwood to get home - we live about 45 minutes away and with the kids needing me for dinner and bed...yeah.
Alex has a head cold and is kind of miserable. Emi is pouting because she has a very loose tooth and she got in trouble because she started eating candy before finishing her homework. I'm trying to decide what to make for dinner.
And it's dark. Today's the shortest day of the year. Days will get longer after this, but today is very dark.
Today has not been a good day in our house.
