dead

Downwood made me new icons. I love them. They rock.

-------

I think I nearly qualify as dead. I'm utterly exhausted in pretty much every way. I keep telling myself that I'll get through this day and then there's only one more before I fly home and have a day and a half to lounge around, then two days of work, then I get to see my sister, two good friends, and go to faire with a whole posse of people.

It doesn't help. Truthfully, it makes me want to curl up under the table in a little ball and shake. I'm so tired of being around People. I've spent more time in this damn room than the rest of my trip all put together. I'm stressed and worn through and through. My public mask is starting to fray and chip around the edges; my back has returned to how it felt before I left grad school and started chiropractic care.

There has been lots of shouting, tons of stress, hours of boredom, and several tidal waves of panic. When things go wrong, they go REALLY wrong and need to be fixed As Quickly As Humanly Possible. I've learned a lot in a hurry, solved some things that would have made me cry a month ago, and stood up for myself in a nasty confrontation.

There have been spots of brightness. I got to meet both Bri and Jenn - two Amazingly Fabulous People Who I Wish I Lived Closer To. I've had some amazing meals: sushi, pasta, a chocolate dessert that made an entire day worth living, and some very tasty BBQ. I'm going out to dinner with a coworker tomorrow night and then to the Dallas Lush store, which fills me with no small amount of glee.

I want quiet. I want peace. I want to not have to be cooped up in this basement. I want to see my Downwood and check on my dog - she's been throwing up and very sick the last few days and I'm very, very worried about her. I want to finish KT's bodice and get one put together that I've had the pieces sitting around for a year. I want to cook something healthy. I want to sleep and not wake up to an alarm. I want to drive around and not swelter.

77 hours down. 14 to go. I think I can do this, but it's really taking its toll. I might be pushing the August deadline back a bit longer. It really depends.

I'm tired.

Here's the promised pictures from yesterday.  I really like what it looks like after being properly washed.  I'm curious to see how long it lasts before I have to reapply the henna.  Yay for my hair being the color that it should have been, not what I was given!!  (and yay for it being warm enough to wear tank tops again!!!)

Today at work sucked. Took an exam that I'm not sure if I passed. Found out that I failed the one I took before Christmas and all near test dates are full. Got an email from the IT department saying "Stay off teh intarwebs unless it's for work OR ELSE". Had my computer decide that it just wasn't going to let me get to the programs that I desperately needed to maintain even a semblance of productivity.

*whine*bitch*moan*

I came home, hugged Downwood, and grabbed my gym bag. We swung by that cesspit of the unwashed hordes (Wal-Mart) to pick up some more doggy stuff. Got in and out without killing anyone in the process.

I know: I'm proud of me, too.

We were going to go to the gym, but when we pulled in the parking lot behind three other cars, nearly got in two wrecks while circling the lot, and noticed that the TWO overflow lots were SRO, we decided that the exercise gods were telling us to go home and get dinner before I got cranky enough to start bitin' off hedz.

We came home and Downwood fixed my favorite dwarf dinner. OMGYUM! I'm so full. I had to go put on more comfortable pants.

I'm now feeling good enough that I feel like sharing a pic of the shirt I wore today. I got it from [livejournal.com profile] bexdragon for Hogswatch. It says "You don't know me. International Spy Museum, Washington DC". It fits perfectly and I love how skinny it makes me look. *happy bounce*

I'm sure everyone remembers the terribly cute clapping bunny from last week. Well, there looks to be another picture of him up on [livejournal.com profile] baaaaabyanimals this afternoon. So I made an icon out of it.

Maybe I should get back to work now.

I have another icon request. In addition for cookies offered for a "Hooray Beer!" icon, I'd dearly love one based on this recent Metaquote, most especially the first one. I'm still giggling over it and the cookie crumbs will eventually come out of the keyboard.

I'll offer cookies again for the second and cupcakes or muffins for both. The power of sugar compels you! The power of sugar compels you!

As I wait for time to run out in the football game, I decided to make a couple of icons. The first one is from a user I saw on Customers Suck! The second is just a snippet of a webcomic that I like.

Free to gank; please credit.
Twitchy kitty Twitchy kitty

Based on [livejournal.com profile] soozquu's icon. I thought it was too darn cute to not be animated.
Radioactive panda Radioactive panda

A very cute miniature panda that just so happens to be a nuclear power source.

Happy Birthday to the Steve for whom Project Steve is named!

As is obvious, I haven't had a chance to update LJ recently.  I had the misfortune to learn that I can't check LJ from the training computers in the main building.  I haven't yet tried from my cubicle, but I may have to finally figure out the Post by Email thing.

In lieu of actual content (as my Cyclones are currently hanging in there with the Squawkeyes), I need to clean some of the tabs out of my browser.
Um, Houston...
"Carrot, throw the book at him."
Why my Saturday afternoons are booked from now until January.

Bad, yet wonderful, punnage

These guys just got bought by Hershey's.  I didn't know them before, but now I'm kinda sad.  It's a company that specializes in dark chocolate!!!!  This makes me a little happy.  I need it to cool down outside so I can have them mail me some deliciousness.

This entry at Dooce sent me into a major gigglefit.  The very next one is equally amusing.  Much of the giggles.

If anyone can make me an icon from the Red Stripe beer commercial of the white guy "dancing" with the final frame of the "Hooray Beer!" logo, I will send you cookies.  Really.  Cookies.

These final two links are swiped from [livejournal.com profile] thestormcellar.  The idea is that if you link to their posts, they will donate $5 to the Red Cross for Katrina relief.  It'll take about three minutes to put in your LJ, too, so please continue this: post the link, then comment to them that you did so.
Ken will donate if you link

I started making some icons this morning. I'm pretty pleased with what I've come up with.

Okay, so I started playing with GIMP after I got the new pics from [livejournal.com profile] downwood. The icons that I cropped are below the cut. There's also a poll. I can't decide which works the best, so I leave it to a vote so that I can get some sleep.

Yes, sleep is good.
Voting for icons. Voting is good, too )

From this post over in [livejournal.com profile] baaaaabyanimals, I decided to make a new icon.  I can't decide on the caption.  I was leaning toward something along the lines of "What?!" or "Fuck off." or "Bite me" but none of those really capture the true meaning of Angry Kitty.

Here's the icon in question

Opinions?

Edit: [livejournal.com profile] silmaril's entry has amused me to no end.

*gasp*

I'm not sure if I'm intrigued by the science or absolutely horrified by their goal.

Maybe I'm exaggerating - I haven't had any coffee yet this morning.

"Don't expect good-tasting naturally decaffeinated coffee anytime soon. There are many hurdles to overcome. As a scientist, I am excited about the future. But as a caffeine addict, I'm not in a hurry to solve this."
