I have chicken curry for lunch. It is delightful, though sadly lacking in vegetable. I also have sourdough bread because I decided I needed something to sop up the extra curry sauce. Om nom nom!

UPS says my initial Girl Charlee order will arrive today! I'll get home late from work, so I won't have enough time to cut, but I *will* have enough time to throw the fabric in the washer. This'll get me enough fabric for two or three pencil skirts, one A-line skirt, and a Moneta (once I figure out what bodice size I need). I'm delighted at the imminent expansion of my peacock wardrobe.

Friday we have no plans.
Saturday is haircut (FINALLY!) and Scion - I need to read up on what comes next in the story arc...and remember where we left off, since we didn't play at all in June.
Sunday is Downwood taking Emi down to his mom's for the week. I'll be home, hanging out with Ox while they're driving down and back. Sniff. Baby girl is SO BIG.

Next week is more work craziness. Then Emi comes home and my folks come up and it's the Giant Werk Picnick of DOOOOOOOOOOM!.

Then I go to Miami for a week. Yey. To my least favorite customer. Yey. To work 12 hr days. Yey.

Then there's a week and it's SitG. I'm doing henna! I have a booth! I need to make up signs/pages of examples of $5/$10/$15/$20 designs so that people don't flip out. Also, I need to purchase show tickets. I told AJ that I don't have a performance piece ready enough to be happy with myself. I have standards about how many hours it would take to effectively polish something for that venue and I don't have the spare spoons/sticks for that right now.

Instead, I have curry. Mmmm....curry...

Before I forget the awesome of today, I must enumerate and be thankful.
  1. I could leave work a little early and get home in very rainy daylight.
  2. The grocery store in work town has the really good Irish soda bread again! Om nom nom.
  3. Said bread is reasonably safe for Emi in small quantities - the only allergen in it for her is wheat! And she likes it! Win!
  4. Ox learned how to give kisses. Not the open-mouth, slobber kisses of babies trying to eat your face, but real kiddo kisses. My heart about burst.
  5. Every night I ask Emi to tell me something good that happened and ask her if anything upsetting happened. Tonight, her happy moment was when I came home from work.
  6. Children's Tylenol is a nifty thing. Kiddo immune systems are extremely nifty. The kids are bouncing back, but still not 100%. Love them so much.
  7. Gaming on Saturday! Yay! I have a somewhat crazy prop planned, but not nearly so crazy as the 8-page newspaper of "Sabine mainlined the entire available back catalog of Night Vale in the space of a couple weeks". They haven't fully exhausted all the possibilities of the newsletter yet. I have hope.
  8. The latest actual podcast of Welcome to Night Vale ("WALK") wasn't as awesome as I was hoping. The live double-length episode available on Bandcamp is COMPLETELY WONDERFUL! Ah, Carlos. Ah, Cecil. Downwood was laughing at me as I was cheering for them and clapping at my phone. I care not. What a great ongoing story.
  9. I sent Downwood a link to Disparition's Bandcamp page. We might have creepy, interesting mood music for gaming. I can't see a downside to this.
  10. Early bedtime for me again tonight. I don't want to get sick and the best way to keep my immune system happy is to be well-rested and low stress. These things all give me silly smiles and make life better. I'm okay with that.

This made me smile. This is a very, very good thing.

Thing the First
Has anyone seen my copy of Odd and the Frost Giants? I remember lending it to someone in the summer, but I don't think I got it back. It's out of print and there are no plans to put it back into print, so I'd like to know where my copy is before I start searching for a new copy.

Thing the Second
I found some recipes for toffee and pralines and am thinking of trying them out this weekend. Having never made candy before, is there some common beginner mistake that I will probably make?

Thing the Third
I'm going to be buying tickets to both the men's and women's hockey games on January 17th. Does anyone want to come with? If it sounds like fun, let me know in the next week - I'd like to get the tickets purchased before Hogswatch.

  • Football continues to suck. With the exception of Texas, every single team I had the least bit of emotional investment in their victory failed to have more points than the other team at the close of the game. Life is meaningless and has no purpose.

  • Thriller is in my head and feet. My torso and arms pretty much know what they're doing, but aren't quite on board with the whole thing yet. That's okay - I have six days to freak out, panic, and get myself into and out of a tizzy. I did enough performance throughout school - including times when I officially Had No Clue What I Was Doing - that I can fairly easily calm nerves and know how to prepare. It doesn't mean that a tizzy is not forthcoming. What can I say? I know me pretty well by now.

  • The three Super Sekrit Projects I've been working on as Hogswatch gifts are coming along. Two of them need me to make a trip to a store, this time with a list so I don't come out of the store with everything except the things I need to finish the projects. I found something in my craft stash that will perfectly finish off the third. A fourth project has been started and there are a couple nearly completed projects in my study that just need a couple hours' work to be ready to wrap. Thus far, I am on schedule.

  • There are several bags of fresh pumpkin puree in my freezer. Downwood and I went to the pumpkin patch today, got them, gutted them, roasted them, then fought with the blender until they were destroyed. The seeds are on a cookie sheet drying out until tomorrow when I'll roast them. Mmmm.

  • The birthday party tonight was very fun and very delicious. I love stir-fry even more when I don't have to do the work of cleaning and chopping all the vegetables that I want to eat. The service left something to be desired, but the company was most excellent.

  • Downwood had to make a sad emergency trip to Farm and Fleet this morning. Rita kitty's kidneys failed overnight. She held on long enough to meow goodbye this morning and Downwood was up pretty late with her. It was a pretty sad and quiet morning around here.
